Natural Progressions

Natural Progressions brings together Janet B. Waters, Nicole Fall, and Blake M. Conroy, three established DMV artists and longtime friends whose work examines how nature shapes abstraction, beauty, and ideas about the human condition. The exhibition presents three distinct but complementary approaches to natural imagery, inviting visitors to consider the textures, patterns, and meanings found in the natural world.

Waters creates evocative abstract landscapes, Fall constructs surreal sculptural forms, and Conroy transforms paper and metal into delicate images inspired by flowers and plant life. Together, their work demonstrates how different materials and processes can arrive at a shared artistic engagement with nature.

Opening Reception: Friday, August 7, from 6:00–8:00 PM, during Art Walk.

Lineup: Waters, based in Baltimore, works in watercolor, gouache, and acrylic, incorporating wax pastels and ink into abstract landscapes. Washington, D.C.-based Fall creates freestanding and wall-mounted sculptures from clay, welded steel, and cast bronze. Conroy, originally from Aberdeen, Maryland, makes layered laser-cut paper images and hand-cut metal works that use light, shadow, and form to suggest flowers and other plant structures.
