The Fruits of Our Labor
The Fruits of Our Labor is a world-premiere production by Step Afrika! created in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary. The work considers the nation’s ongoing story through themes of rhythm, resilience, patriotism, identity, struggle, joy, hope, and the possibility of an America still taking shape.
Directed and choreographed by Jakari Sherman, the production combines African American stepping traditions with contemporary dance, percussion, technology, storytelling, and vivid visual design. Its kinetic stage language uses movement and music to explore the power and complexity of the American experience.
