New Works by Sobia Ahmad
New Works by Sobia Ahmad is a solo exhibition exploring the spiritual and transformative potential of ordinary experiences, objects, and rituals. Ahmad works across film, photography, and socially engaged practice, drawing on non-Western intellectual and spiritual traditions, including Sufi devotional poetry and oral storytelling. Her use of analog processes, slowness, and tactile participation considers how people might deepen their inner lives and engage more attentively with social and ecological concerns.
Ahmad was born and raised in Pakistan and moved to the United States at age 14. She holds an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as degrees in community health and studio art from the University of Maryland, College Park.
