Johnny Burgin Blues Revue Featuring: Bruce Ewan • Tommy Hannigan • Mark Stutso

Johnny Burgin leads an evening of Chicago blues with a revue featuring harmonica specialist Bruce Ewan, bassist Tommy Hannigan, and drummer-vocalist Mark Stutso. The performance brings together classic blues, R&B, roots-rock, and rock ’n’ roll influences, with Burgin’s West Side Chicago style at the center.

A Mississippi native, Burgin moved to Chicago at 18 and learned directly from blues singer Tail Dragger, who helped launch his professional career. He has since toured and recorded with Pinetop Perkins, Sam Lay, and Billy Boy Arnold, released 10 albums on Delmark and Vizztone, and received recognition including a Blues Music Award nomination. His recordings include *Johnny Burgin Live*, featuring Charlie Musselwhite, Nancy Wright, and Rae Gordon, and *No Border Blues: Japan*. He performs more than 200 shows annually in the United States, Europe, and Japan.

Bruce Ewan has been a major presence in the Washington-area blues community since 1975. Known as a leading harmonica player, he has performed with John Lee Hooker, Albert Collins, and Carey Bell, and has toured internationally. His playing combines Chicago harmonica traditions with jazz touches, using both diatonic and chromatic harmonicas.

Tommy Hannigan is a Texas-born bassist known for his strong groove, flexibility, and understated musical support. A veteran of groups including The Shambles and the Grand Dukes, he has backed Burgin and is now a member of The Nighthawks. His experience spans blues, R&B, roots-rock, and rock ’n’ roll, from driving rhythms to more spacious ballad accompaniment.

Mark Stutso is a drummer and vocalist whose work encompasses rock, blues, and American roots music. After leaving West Virginia coal-mining work to pursue music, the self-taught performer played with Jimmy Thackery, Ruffryder, Trix, and other regional acts. As a member of The Nighthawks, he contributes powerful drumming and seasoned lead vocals.
