Afro-Cuban All Stars
Afro-Cuban All Stars brings a multigenerational orchestra to Strathmore for a performance celebrating the breadth of Cuban music. Led by Juan de Marcos González, a key figure in the Buena Vista Social Club project, the ensemble connects musicians from different generations and musical backgrounds in a program rooted in Cuba’s mid-20th-century golden age.
The performance moves through son, bolero, and rhythm-driven dance styles. Founded in the 1990s, the group uses a flexible, evolving lineup that pairs younger musicians with established artists, preserving Cuban musical traditions while incorporating contemporary sounds.
