Exhibit: Celeste Rogers - Vertical Beings
Celeste Rogers’s “Vertical Beings” presents new paintings, drawings, and surface constructions about life forms that remain rooted and intertwined with the earth while reaching upward. The exhibition considers the tension between gravity and transcendence, occupying an unsettled space between grounded physical existence and spiritual or dreamlike elevation.
Rogers is a contemporary artist from Chicago who is now based in Washington, DC’s Gateway Arts District. Her process-driven practice combines painting, drawing, and constructed surfaces. Treating each painting as a living system, she allows gesture, material behavior, and physical presence to shape the work. Dense marks meet atmospheric washes, producing shifting perceptions that move between tangible form and ambiguity.
