Jazz Jams at Busboys and Poets

Jazz Jams at Busboys and Poets is a free community jazz session presented jointly by Clarice Presents and Busboys and Poets. The evening features D.C.-based saxophonist Elijah Jamal Balbed, who leads his band in a performance and then opens the floor for a community-wide jam. Audience members are encouraged to bring their instruments and, after enjoying the band’s set, take a turn calling a tune during the jam. Participation is entirely optional and free, so listeners are just as welcome as players.

The event takes place on Wednesday, April 28, 2027, at 7:30 pm at Busboys and Poets Hyattsville. It is general admission and requires no tickets or payment. The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center also notes a range of accessibility services that can be arranged upon request, including wheelchair-accessible seating, size-inclusive seating, large-print programs, assisted listening devices, sensory packs, and quiet spaces; ASL interpretation, audio description, and captioning are available for select events or by patron request made at least six weeks in advance.
