Online Dream Cafe

Online Dream Cafe is a guided online gathering led by Bernard Welt for sharing and exploring dreams in a supportive, non-clinical setting. Participants discuss their dreams through a gentle, non-intrusive metaphor-based approach derived from Dr. Montague Ullman’s work, with additional conversation about techniques for remembering and recording dreams. Sharing a dream or helping interpret someone else’s dream is encouraged but optional, and participants are not pressured to go beyond their comfort level.

The session is intended as a space for appreciating the possible insights, images, and stories found in dreams rather than as psychotherapy. It follows the Ethics Guidelines of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, and Dr. Welt is not a psychotherapist.

Showtimes: 8:00 PM–10:00 PM Eastern. The Dream Cafe is generally held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

Tickets: Free. Donations are appreciated but are not required to RSVP or participate; proceeds support Rhizome.

Late entry: The online meeting room closes five minutes after the start time so that the dream-sharing conversation is not interrupted.

Ages: Suitable for ages 16 and older. Anyone under 16 should consult a parent or guardian before attending.

Leader: Bernard Welt leads the gathering. He is Professor Emeritus of Arts and Humanities at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University, where he developed interdisciplinary courses on dreaming. He co-authored *Dreaming in the Classroom: Practices, Methods, and Resources in Dream Education*, has served on the board of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, and has written extensively about dreaming, the arts, and poetry.
