Profusion
Profusion is a group of layered botanical paintings by Lisa Battle, curated by Robert Cwiok and Iza Thomas. Inspired by the unchecked abundance of nature, the works combine repeated impressions of leaves, vines, and other plant forms. As the layers accumulate, individual shapes merge into dense, tangled compositions that suggest wild landscapes and the interconnectedness of living things.
The exhibition also reflects on nature’s slower sense of time, measured in seasons and centuries rather than human deadlines. By placing viewers amid this patient abundance, Battle considers humanity’s connection to the living world and the lasting consequences of what we choose to do now.
