Fair Play
Fair Play is a stage production by Ella Road, directed by Deidra LaWan Starnes. The play follows Ann and Sophie, two athletes with a chance to become champions, as their relationships, bodies, and identities come under public scrutiny. It examines the personal cost of exceptional performance and the darker side of women’s athletics. Road is also the author of The Phlebotomist, and The Telegraph has called her “the most promising young playwright in Britain.”
The production is presented by 1st Stage and was extended through November 9, 2025. It received support from Jacqueline Cookston and Anne Nolan, with photography by Teresa Castracane Photography.
