Free Folklórico Class

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a free community folklórico class at Maryland Youth Ballet. Led by Paulette Chavira, the session introduces participants to “Flor de Piña,” a Mexican folk dance from Oaxaca’s Papaloapan region. The class also explores the dance’s history and traditional regalia.

“Flor de Piña” was first presented in 1958 and has since become one of the most anticipated dances at Oaxaca’s Guelaguetza festival. No prior dance experience is required, and the class is open to the public.
