Envisioning the Future of Global Supply Chains: A Johns Hopkins 150th Anniversary Conference
Envisioning the Future of Global Supply Chains is a one-day Johns Hopkins University conference held as part of the university’s 150th-anniversary, or Sesquicentennial, celebration. The event brings together academics, policymakers, business and industry specialists, government and policy experts, and journalists to consider how geopolitics, economic policy, resilience, health security, and artificial intelligence are changing the world’s supply chains.
The program examines the shift from geopolitics toward “geoeconomics,” including the effects of tariffs, export controls, industrial policy, and strategic dependence on where goods are produced and how much risk supply networks carry. It also explores supply chains as critical infrastructure for artificial intelligence, including semiconductors, computing capacity, energy, data centers, and critical minerals. A keynote will focus on global linkages, trade, and the macroeconomic effects of supply-chain disruption.

Lovely of the Peterson Institute for International Economics; Nuno Limão of Georgetown University; Gad Allon of the Wharton School; and Sridhar Tayur of Carnegie Mellon University. Additional experts will participate from Johns Hopkins, government, industry, and policy institutions.
Moderators: Journalists from Bloomberg News, The Wall Street Journal, and STAT will moderate the panels.
