Haydn and Beethoven
The Smithsonian Academy Orchestra, under the direction of Kenneth Slowik, presents a free concert of two iconic symphonies. Haydn’s Symphony No. 100, known as the “Military” for its use of Turkish percussion, is paired with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, which Richard Wagner famously called the “apotheosis of the dance.” The performance takes place at St. Michael’s Church on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
