KiNG MALA brings her debut album, *And You Who Drowned In The Grief Of A Golden Thing*, to the Black Cat. The 12-track dark-pop project moves between forceful industrial pop and finely detailed R&B ballads while exploring the cost of power, ambition, and transformation.

The album follows a fictional human and an all-powerful entity through a twisted hero’s journey. Its first half imagines the promise and allure of becoming powerful, while the second half confronts the devastating consequences: the human gives up not only power, but the qualities that once made them human. KiNG MALA’s broader artistic world draws on surreal, left-of-center influences, including experimental pop and R&B, contemporary boundary-pushing artists, and films such as *The Substance*.
