Mike LeDonne's Groovers Quartet - Hammond B3 Week
Mike LeDonne’s Groovers Quartet brings world-renowned pianist and Hammond B3 organist Mike LeDonne to Blues Alley for a Hammond B3 Week performance. LeDonne has spent more than four decades working with major figures from the swing, bebop, and modern jazz eras, including Benny Goodman, Roy Eldridge, Milt Jackson, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Farmer, Clifford Jordan, Sonny Rollins, George Coleman, Bobby Hutcherson, and Benny Golson.
LeDonne served as Milt Jackson’s pianist and musical director for 11 years and has appeared on more than 200 recordings, including 20 albums under his own name. A pianist with an acclaimed career of more than 20 years, he later became recognized as one of the leading Hammond organists in jazz. He has received a Jazz Journalists Association nomination for Best Keyboards, won DownBeat’s Rising Star Poll for Organ, performed since childhood on the Hammond organ, and spent four years on the Juilliard faculty. He also co-authored a jazz piano comping book in Jim Snidero’s Jazz Conception series.
