Stand-Up Showcase
Stand-Up Showcase brings five comedians to the DC Improv’s main room for an evening of varied stand-up styles and emerging talent from the Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and wider comedy scenes. The showcase is designed to put audiences close to performers who may become tomorrow’s major comedy stars, while mixing personal stories, observational humor, cultural commentary, and playful takes on everyday life.
The lineup includes Tim Convy, Aminah Imani, Dom Hatton-Woods, Randy Syphax, and Kade Wonders. Together, they bring experience from national tours, television, major comedy festivals, prominent clubs, and online comedy platforms.
When: August 21–23, 2027.
Showtimes: The page lists performances on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
Tickets: $29.50 for general admission, including service charges.

Tim Convy: Convy is a comedian and musician from St. Louis who performed nationally with the rock band Ludo, including appearances on *The Tonight Show*, *Jimmy Kimmel Live*, and MTV. He later studied improvisation at New York City’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and developed stand-up material drawn from touring, his Midwestern upbringing, and his relationships. He co-hosts the Nate Bargatze-produced podcast *The Consumers* and has worked as a television writer and producer on programs including Comedy Central’s *Not Safe with Nikki Glaser* and MTV’s *House of Style*. Aminah Imani: Imani is an Atlanta-born stand-up comedian, host, and actor who lives and performs regularly in New York City. Her screen credits include Peacock’s live special *New York After Dark*, Paramount’s *Inside Amy Schumer*, Showtime’s *Flatbush Misdemeanors*, Comedy Central Short Sets, and Hulu’s *Up Early Tonight*. She was named a Just For Laughs New Face in 2023 and has contributed to Scary Mommy, BuzzFeed, and Viceland. She has performed with comedians including Matteo Lane, Roy Wood Jr., and Chelsea Handler, as well as at Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theater, the DC Comedy Festival, and other festivals and venues. Dom Hatton-Woods: Hatton-Woods is a British stand-up comedian and online creator whose comedy turns personal mishaps, dating, family, relationships, and the difficulties of adulthood into self-deprecating stories and awkward observations. He has built an online audience of more than 125,000 people across TikTok and Instagram, with his “Find a Wife” series receiving millions of views. He has supported Jamali Maddix on tour and performs regularly as an emerging voice in the U.K. comedy scene. His Instagram handle is @domhattonwoodscomedy.
Randy Syphax: Syphax has appeared on *The Tonight Show*, been profiled in *The New York Times*, and performed at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. He was selected as one of Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch, and his work has also appeared on NBC, MTV, OVERTIME, and STARZ. His Instagram handle is @randysyphax.
Kade Wonders: Wonders uses an energetic, inclusive style to explore gender, masculinity, and the absurdity of ordinary life. Their playful persona combines the familiarity of a younger or older sibling with the irreverent perspective of a lesbian aunt. Wonders regularly performs for Don’t Tell Comedy in Virginia and Maryland and has appeared at clubs and festivals throughout the country, opening for Nico Carney, Heather Shaw, and Michael Yo. Their Instagram handle is @kade.wonders.
