Avanti Orchestra Concert

The Avanti Orchestra presents “Rails to Broadway: City Soundscapes,” a program exploring musical impressions of cities and urban life. The concert features the orchestra under conductor Chi-Yuan Lin, with Pei-Tsun Chiang as piano soloist. The repertoire ranges from Shuian Chang and James P. Johnson to Maurice Ravel, Florence Price, and Leonard Bernstein, including Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G and Bernstein’s dances from *West Side Story*.

Parking: Free garage and surface parking are available. Neither parking area can be reached from Burlington Avenue; use King Street or Jesup Blair Drive via Georgia Avenue. The GPS address for access is 940 King Street, Silver Spring, Maryland. King Street ends at the parking garage. The Campus West garage will lock at an appropriate time after the concert, so attendees planning to leave their cars while dining or running errands should move them to the surface lot.

Metro: From the Red Line, exit Silver Spring Station on East-West Highway, turn left, and walk approximately 0.6 miles to the Cultural Arts Center. Riders may alternatively transfer to Ride On bus route 17 or 18.
