Sun, Nov 15, 2026at 2:30 PM
1333 H Street Northeast, Washington, DC

Featuring: Capital City Symphony

Capital City Symphony’s *The Mighty Pines* is a family concert that turns the orchestra into an imagined forest and invites listeners of all generations on a musical journey through Rome. Before the performance, audience members can explore an instrument petting zoo, meet the musicians, and try instruments including violins, violas, cellos, basses, French horn, and harp.

The concert centers on Ottorino Respighi’s symphonic poem *Pines of Rome*, which depicts four distinctive landscapes: a peaceful villa garden filled with birdsong, mysterious pines near the catacombs, monumental trees along the Appian Way, and the triumphant pines of Janiculum Hill. Each movement uses vivid orchestral colors to evoke a different setting and the history and stories associated with it.
