James Fernando Presents "New Music Releases"

James Fernando leads his Philadelphia-based jazz trio in a lively reimagining of the piano-trio tradition. The performance combines strong ensemble chemistry, playful interplay, inventive improvisation, and original compositions with fresh interpretations of jazz standards.

Drawing on influences including Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, and Thelonious Monk, the trio connects the sound of jazz’s greats with a contemporary, forward-looking approach. Fernando, praised for his composing and piano virtuosity, formed the trio in 2023 after an international career that included collaborations with GRAMMY Award-winning artists and five album releases. The group has since performed at venues including the Kennedy Center, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and The Ravenscroft, as well as presenting concerts and workshops at universities nationwide.
