James Fernando Presents "New Music Releases"

James Fernando leads his Philadelphia-based jazz trio in a lively piano-trio performance that combines jazz tradition with forward-looking arrangements. The program features fresh interpretations of standards as well as original compositions, shaped by inventive improvisation, playful interplay, technical command, and compelling rhythms.

Fernando is an acclaimed composer and virtuoso pianist who has performed internationally, collaborated with GRAMMY Award-winning artists, and released five albums. He formed the trio in 2023, and the group has since appeared at venues including the Kennedy Center, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Ravenscroft, as well as at universities nationwide for concerts and workshops. Drawing inspiration from Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, and Thelonious Monk, the trio aims to create a dynamic, powerful, and joyful contemporary jazz experience.
