The Kennedys “SMOKETREE” Tour Celebrating Maura’s Birthday & The Club’s 25th Anniversary

The Kennedys bring their “Smoketree” tour to Jammin Java for a celebration of Maura Kennedy’s birthday and the venue’s 25th anniversary. The performance is part of the Jammin Java/Union Stage Presents anniversary concert series and supports the duo’s 2026 album, *Smoketree*, their first collection of entirely new original songs in three years.

Pete and Maura Kennedy have performed together for more than three decades. They met at Austin’s Continental Club in 1992, began writing and performing together soon afterward, and went on to tour as Nanci Griffith’s opening act and members of her Blue Moon Orchestra. The Kennedys have released roughly two dozen mostly original albums and side projects, hosted the Sirius/XM folk program “The Dharma Café,” and continued performing extensively through the pandemic with livestreams and a worldwide audience. Their music combines energized folk-rock, passion, and an uplifting sense of connection with the audience.

*Smoketree* follows the duo’s 2023 album, *Headwinds*, which reached No. 1 on the national Folk DJ chart for a month. The new songs address environmental issues, social upheaval, displacement, and the search for peace while retaining The Kennedys’ hopeful, encouraging approach.
