Bed Maker / The Armors / Bohemian Waxwing
Bed Maker, The Armors, and Bohemian Waxwing share a bill at Rhizome DC for an evening of underground music. Bed Maker features Jeff Barsky, Amanda MacKaye, Arthur Noll, and Vin Novara, while Bohemian Waxwing brings together four musicians whose work draws from alt-country, punk, ambient, and indie. The Armors add a glam- and classic-rock-inflected sound shaped by proto-punk and DC’s Revolution Summer, led by frontwoman Leah Heater’s powerful operatic vocals.
Bohemian Waxwing’s songs explore connections among art, science, the natural world, and inner life, combining Yo La Tengo-like textures with XTC-influenced harmonies and lyricism in the vein of Bill Callahan. The Armors pair hard-driving classic-rock swagger with mid-1970s glam, dance-oriented energy, and sharp-edged wit.
