Macbeth's Midsummer Night's Dream
Macbeth’s Midsummer Night’s Dream is an original theatrical work that combines modern absurdist drama with Shakespearean tragedy. It follows Macbeth and Lady Macbeth from their murderous pursuit of the crown in the Elizabethan era into a vastly different modern world, where they have education, social status, and respectable identities—but Macbeth’s ambition and desires remain much the same.
Lady Macbeth, now a ghost in the nether world, remains deeply in love with her husband. Five centuries later, their unexpected choices place their relationship under renewed strain. Performed by two actors portraying six characters, the production incorporates Shakespeare’s iconic lines into familiar hip-hop rhythms, creating an intimate and immersive experience shaped by humor, absurdity, emotional intensity, and dramatic tension.
The play premiered at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where audience members praised its strong performances, powerful emotional moments, silliness, and willingness to take theatrical risks. Its December performances mark the production’s U.S. premiere.
