Compagnie HERVÉ KOUBI

Compagnie HERVÉ KOUBI makes its George Mason University Center for the Arts debut with *Sol Invictus*, a contemporary dance work led by Algerian choreographer Hervé Koubi. Inspired by Algerian and Mediterranean culture, the company brings together contemporary and street dance, capoeira, and martial arts in a highly physical production filled with striking visual imagery and poetic movement.

Named for the “invincible sun” deity, *Sol Invictus* features dancers seemingly defying gravity to music by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson, with additional excerpts by Steve Reich and digital composer Maxime Bodson. The performance is suitable for all ages and will include audio description.

When: Saturday, October 24, 2026

Showtime: 7:30 p.m.

Venue: Center for the Arts, Concert Hall, George Mason University’s Fairfax Campus

Tickets: $65, $55, and $45; prices include fees. Half-price tickets are available for youth through Grade 12.

Run time: Approximately 80 minutes with no intermission

Before the performance: A discussion with Compagnie HERVÉ KOUBI co-founder Guillaume Gabriel, moderated by George Mason School of Dance Professor Shaun D’Arcy, begins one hour before the performance.

Student tickets: A limited number of free tickets for Mason students will be available two Tuesdays before the performance.
