A Living Foundation: Shafer, O’Regan & Mozart
The City Choir of Washington opens its 20th season with a concert celebrating the choir’s artistic foundations while looking toward the future of choral music. The program begins with the world premiere of Artistic Director Emeritus Robert Shafer’s *Hymn to God the Father*, continues with the East Coast premiere of Tarik O’Regan’s kaleidoscopic *Critical Mass*, and concludes with Mozart’s transcendent *Vesperae solennes de confessore*, K. 339.
*Critical Mass* originated as a commission for the coronation of King Charles III. The Mozart work features soloists from the Wolf Trap Opera Studio, who join the choir and orchestra for this season-opening concert.
