On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Rhizome DC presents an evening of genre-liberated improvisation and experimental music featuring three distinctive performers: Sarah Hughes, Corey Thuro, and Nate Scheible. Hughes, a seasoned multi-instrumentalist on saxophones, flute, and clarinet, brings an intuitive and commanding approach to her music. Thuro is a musician based in Baltimore, and Scheible — who also designed the event’s flier — has spent 25 years exploring improvisation on drums, electronics, and analog tape, with releases on labels such as Warm Winters Ltd., Outside Time, Unifactor, Feeding Tube, and Never Anything. The night promises a blend of solo and collaborative sets that draw on deep experience and cross-genre sensibilities.
