Gary Ferguson with Moe Nelson

Gary Ferguson and Moe Nelson bring an evening of roots music to Hank Dietle’s Tavern, drawing from bluegrass, country, Americana, blues, rock, and swing. Ferguson is an acclaimed songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, while Nelson provides bass and a seasoned rhythmic foundation shaped by decades in the regional live-music scene.

Ferguson won the 2015 DCBU Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest and was a finalist in MerleFest’s Chris Austin Songwriting Contest. He has toured throughout the United States and Europe and has worked with Knoxville Grass, Donna Fargo, Claire Lynch, and John Starling. His song “Southern Train” was featured at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass. He also performs with East of Monroe, The Hula Monsters, and Ferguson & Ferguson, whose EP *Some Bridges* includes Ron Stewart and Mark Schatz.

Nelson currently performs with The Grandsons, The Hula Monsters, and The Longtimers. His playing is described as groove-focused, tasteful, and centered on supporting the song, whether accompanying roots rock, blues, swing, or dance-oriented music.
