The Imposter Unmasked
The Imposter Unmasked is an immersive masquerade-concert presented by Opera Lafayette, set in 17th-century England where masks are currency and music peels back layers of deception. Artistic Director Bill Barclay of Concert Theatre Works curates a program of songs by Dowland, Campion, Purcell, and early Handel that explores longing, satire, devotion, and melancholy, all surrounding the central mystery of who the true impostor is. The evening invites audience members to don costumes (encouraged; masks will be provided) and become part of the intrigue, culminating in an 85-minute performance with no intermission. The opera orchestra is led by Patrick Quigley.
