Matthew Whitaker

This one-night-only event, presented by Washington Performing Arts and Strathmore, brings Grammy-winning pianist and composer Matthew Whitaker to the Music Center at Strathmore for a special program titled *UPLIFT!*. The evening is a multi-generational celebration tailored specifically for the co-presenters, blending jazz, gospel, and soul. Whitaker will be joined by Grammy-nominated vocalist Christie Dashiell, his own band, the Washington Performing Arts Children of the Gospel Choir and its alumni, and additional horns and strings drawn from members of Strathmore's resident artist programs. The performance promises a jubilant, soulful atmosphere, showcasing Whitaker’s remarkable versatility across genres.
