Chuck Brown Band

The Chuck Brown Band brings the unmistakable sound of go-go to The Clarice at UMD, carrying on the legacy of the late Chuck Brown, known as the Godfather of Go-Go. Fronted by Chuck’s son Wiley Brown, the ensemble performs the hypnotic, danceable music that Brown helped create, honoring a genre that is deeply rooted in funk, soul, and jazz. Go-Go is widely regarded as the only form of expressive culture to originate in Washington, D.C., and this performance celebrates its enduring influence on R&B and beyond.

The evening takes place in the Kay Theatre at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, with reserved seating and a single performance at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available at a regular price of $35 plus a $5 booking fee, with a discounted rate of $15 for students and youth. The performance is part of the Clarice Presents series, supported by the Maryland State Arts Council.
