On Sunday, January 10, 2027, the Birchmere Music Hall hosts a one-night Eva Cassidy tribute concert. The evening is billed around the 30th anniversary of Cassidy’s death and brings together Washington-area vocalists with members of the Original Eva Cassidy Band for a celebration of her music. The program includes songs Cassidy made iconic, such as “Over the Rainbow” and “Time After Time,” along with other selections from her repertoire.

Eva Cassidy was a deeply loved figure in the Washington, DC, music community, known for her remarkable ability to move across folk, blues, pop, jazz, R&B, and gospel. She died at 33 after a three-month battle with cancer. Though she performed at DC venues such as Blues Alley and The Bayou and released a duets album with Chuck Brown in 1992, much of her broader fame came through albums released after her death. The Washington Post once praised her for making every song she sang feel like the only music that mattered.
