The Organ Control Systems Workshop offers an inside look at the technology behind the modern pipe organ, hosted at the United States office of Solid State Organ Systems in Alexandria, Virginia. Presented by Chris Betts, who serves both as the Managing Director of Solid State Organ Systems and as Sub Dean of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, the workshop is designed to demystify the electronics and control systems that govern how organs function. Attendees can expect a practical, behind-the-scenes tour of the company’s U.S. base, along with guidance on getting the most out of these systems and a look at emerging developments in organ technology.

The workshop takes place on Monday evening and focuses on the technical workings of organ control systems, including switching and relays, capture systems, and record/playback capabilities. Betts will also share advice on best practices for using these systems and offer insight into what is currently at the cutting edge of the field. As the event is hosted at a working office facility, it provides a rare opportunity to see the equipment and technology in a professional setting.
