Queen for the Night: From Whitacre to Mercury celebrates The City Choir of Washington’s milestone 20th season with a genre-spanning program that moves from atmospheric contemporary choral music to the dramatic sound of rock royalty. The concert’s first half features “music of the night” for chorus and solo cello, conducted by Artistic Director Erin Freeman, with works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Eric Whitacre, Reena Esmail, Imant Raminsh, and Jake Runestad.

The program then shifts into Tolga Kashif’s Queen Symphony, a sweeping orchestral tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen performed with the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra. MCYO Artistic Director Kristofer Sanz leads the orchestra in the concert’s powerful classical-rock finale.

Public transportation: The garage is next to the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro Station on the Red Line. From the station, follow the walkway to the left entrance of the garage, then use the stairs or elevator to reach Level 4 and the sky bridge.
