Agrupación Señor Serrano: Birdie

Birdie, presented by the Barcelona-founded company Agrupación Señor Serrano, is a genre-defying multimedia performance that weaves together migration, golf, and Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. The work is sparked by a real-life photograph of migrants lining a fence while golfers enjoy a game nearby, and it reflects on the two realities that share the same frame: those who live a life of leisure and those who must flee danger, war, and economic uncertainty. The production combines documentary material, scale models, thousands of miniature animals, and live video into what the venue describes as a darkly playful blend of theater and live cinema.

The performance takes place in the Kogod Theatre at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. Both scheduled performances include open captioning, and the Thursday evening show is followed by a Post-Performance Conversation presented with ASL interpretation. The production uses haze effects during the performance.
