TEN GRAND

TEN GRAND is a world-premiere play by Kate Cortesi, directed by Woolly Mammoth Artistic Director Reggie D. White, and running February 1–28, 2027 as part of Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company’s 2026–2027 season. The play is set in a Boston-area Goodwill store, where the ordinary rhythms of work and secondhand commerce carry a surprising amount of emotional weight. Employees and customers form quiet alliances, develop rituals, and nurse rivalries among piles of goods that have been gently used and twice loved. One meticulous worker harbors a crush on a coworker, a production assistant from a nearby film set is also drawn to that coworker, and the worker’s manager mainly wants her to show up on time, all while the daytime drama All My Children plays in the break room like daily scripture. When an unexpected item appears in the donation bin, the workplace story escalates from everyday tension into something with life-or-death stakes.

Written by Princess Grace Award winner Kate Cortesi, Ten Grand is described by the theater as a play about discarded people, community care, and the way the stories we tell about ourselves shape what becomes of us. It is one of five world premieres in Woolly’s season featuring playwrights new to the company, and it marks part of Reggie D. White’s inaugural season as Artistic Director.
