Churchill

Thu, Feb 4, 2027 – Sun, Mar 21, 2027
Alumni Drive, College Park, MD
Price not available
Featuring: Daniel Payne

Churchill is a one-man biographical drama that takes audiences back to 1963, the year Winston Churchill receives honorary American citizenship from President John F. Kennedy. Written by David Payne and performed by his son Daniel Payne, the production presents Churchill reflecting on what this unprecedented honor means to him as he looks back over his long, eventful life. The former two-time Prime Minister revisits episodes from the Boer War, his marriage to Clementine Churchill, and his relationship with Queen Elizabeth II, all delivered with the charisma, wit, and occasional irreverence that earned him the nickname “The Old Lion.” Olney Theatre Center presents the show in the spirit of its earlier historical portrait *Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground*, offering another intimate dramatic encounter with a major 20th-century leader in the flexible Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab.

When: February 4 – March 21, 2027.

Location: Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab at Olney Theatre Center.
